Following the success of the special events held at award winning Kelling Heath last year, details of the 2002 programme have been released together with the entertainment's programme for the Folly and Forge.

Visitors will have the opportunity to watch or participate in the events, many of which continue the theme of environmental education that Kelling Heath is renowned for.

The event season will be launched on Sunday May 6th with a May Day Festival featuring traditional music and dancing. A local storyteller will be running sessions throughout the day from a yurt, a big wood and canvas circular tent that can seat up to 40 people. There will also be demonstrations of sculpture and puppet making and a barbecue will be available between noon and 2pm.

New events to be held throughout the season include open air theatre from the Spinoff Theatre Company performing a musical based on Norfolk Stories and a Wizard Workshop where all ages can learn magic tricks then have the chance to perform them at a special performance.

Other events will include the Nutmeg Puppet Company performing an environmentally based play, a Medieval Day with Re-enactment, a Day of Flight with displays from the Raptor Trust and a chance for guests to have an opportunity to experience a Night on the Wild Side by spending a night sleeping out in the wild, discovering the magic world that darkness brings to Kelling.

The Norwich based Maddermarket Theatre Company will also be performing open air theatre at a one off performance on the 26th July.

Kelling Heath's countryside and estate manager Kevin Hart says the special events will be well received by visitors.

"We are delighted that so many of our visitors enjoyed the diverse range of special events held during last year and we have worked hard during the winter to produce this enhanced programme. Kelling Heath has always acted as an interface between the countryside and urban areas by helping to educate visitors in a peaceful and relaxing holiday environment through our activity programmes. This year our guests will have the chance to enjoy and experience new events such as the Viking Re-enactment and open air theatre."
