Gold For Kelling Heath In David Bellamy Conservation Awards

Kelling Heath has achieved Gold standard in the David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme for the fourth year running.

To achieve this prestigious award Kelling Heath had to complete a detailed questionnaire covering the different aspects of it's environmental policies describing what positive conservation steps have been taken and, undergo an independent inspection.

Guests staying on the 250 acre estate had the opportunity to complete special conservation award postcards which were returned directly to David Bellamy to help with his assessment. A sample of comments taken from visitors postcards and forwarded back to Kelling Heath by David Bellamy were as follows:

* "This was our first visit with three small grandchildren who spent a stimulating and informative few days with nature treks & pond dipping etc. We were very impressed". * "Each year the Park improves it's entertainment and things to do whilst maintaining a good approach to nature and it's wildlife". * "Kelling Heath is discrete and spacious, beautifully cared for with great attention to detail". * "This is an attractive Park with activities that concentrate on nature conservation. Particularly satisfying was the sighting of a Nightjar on an organised walk". * "Lovely ponds lots of wildlife, Nightjars, owls, good walks, lots of woods, well kept".

Kevin Hart, Kelling Heath's Countryside Manager who prepared the submission for the Bellamy Award says that the accolade reflects the huge amount of work that has been put into the conservation of Kelling Heath's stunning natural environment.

"Winning such a prestigious award is a wonderful achievement. I would like to thank those that returned postcards to Professor Bellamy for their splendid comments, it shows that they appreciate and enjoy what we are achieving with our work here at Kelling Heath".

Kelling Heath, is a holder of a silver award in the tourism industries "Oscars", the England for Excellence Awards and, was the United Kingdom winner in the 1999 British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow Awards which recognise an environmentally and culturally sensitive approach to tourism.
